Writing Exercise #1
Writing Strangers (a point of view exercise)
Think about a person whom you encounter in your daily life, but
don't give much thought to: the telemarketer who interrupted your
dinner, the DMV guy who made you wait in line for an hour, the
stranger on the bus who talked to herself the whole ride. Then,
write a story from that character's point of view, depicting their
situation with more complexity than you would ordinarily give them
credit for during the contexts in which you encounter them.
